First step...
A few months ago I was doing two nutritional/ fitness challenges and posting about the recipes, workouts, and my results and a friend suggested that I should do a blog. Of course that was right around Christmas and I got busy with the holidays, but I kept thinking about it. I just finished a 6 week challenge where I lost 9.6 pounds and 2.3% body fat plus several inches. I am going to use this blog to possibly motivate or help people on their healthy journey, plus keep myself accountable. I do well on challenges because I have to hand in food journals and meet with a nutrition coach as well as get my workouts in.
I was active as a kid, played 3 sports— field hockey, basketball, and softball. I wasn’t extremely good at any of them. As an adult I discovered kickboxing. At first I did cardio kickboxing, but eventually tried classes where we hit heavy bags. I loved it. Kickboxing is a great stress reliever, plus I just enjoy punching and kicking. I have worked with a personal trainer and got into the best shape of my life, but once the gym closed and my trainer moved on, I may have gained weight back, but could still wear the smaller sizes. Now in combination with kickboxing, I also take 30 minute HIIT style classes at Cuse Camp, plus in the summer do circuit classes at a local park.
Nutrition is the toughest part. We know or have a good idea of what we should and shouldn’t eat, but putting that into motion is the hard part. When I do the challenges, I am given guidelines to follow and I am good about it, when the challenge is over and I add back in some less healthy food choices, I’ll do good for a while and then things come up and I get off course. The trick is to get back on track because you can’t outwork an unhealthy diet and to stay on track. Finding balance is the key and it’s where I struggle.
I plan on sharing recipes and how I meal prep for the week ahead. I may possibly talk about my workouts and how I get them in.
Looking forward to this journey.
